Srdjan Capkun and Zhendong Su, professors at the Department of Computer Science, have been named IEEE Fellows. The prestigious grade of IEEE Fellow is conferred upon a person with an outstanding record of accomplishments in any of the IEEE fields of interest.
Students ace programming contest
A team of three ETH computer science Master’s students won a silver medal at the World Finals of the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) and became European Champions – the best placement by an ETH team in the history of the contest.

Swiss women program themselves onto the podium
The European Girls' Olympiad in Informatics took place for the second time from October 16-23. This time, the competition brought together 155 talented female students from over 40 countries in Turkey. The four Swiss participants were awarded silver and bronze medals.

Torsten Hoefler receives the Sidney Fernbach Award 2022
IEEE Computer Society honours Professor Torsten Hoefler with the Sidney Fernbach Memorial Award for his pioneering contributions to large-scale parallel processing systems and supercomputers. The ideas and software professor Hoefler and his group developed are used by tens of thousands of scientists to power large-scale scientific simulations and artificial intelligence systems.
