Administration
Department Administration
The Department Administration Group collaborates closely with the department head to oversee both day-to-day operations and strategic planning. Core responsibilities include managing finances, handling space and site planning, coordinating the hiring and evaluation of professors, managing daily administrative tasks, and running the computer science library.
Studies Administration
The Student Administration Office is the central point of contact, interface and helpdesk for lecturers and students at all levels. It takes care of administration, monitoring, communication and providing information. In addition, the group carries out quality controls and, if necessary, intervenes proactively and provides support in the event of difficulties.
IT Service Group
The IT Service Group (ISGINF) delivers high-quality IT services tailored to the department's needs. It focuses on providing department-wide facilities that central ETH IT services don't sufficiently cover, cater specifically to computer science, or are more innovative. ISGINF also supports the research infrastructure of some groups and works tirelessly in the background to ensure everything runs smoothly.
Communication and Marketing Group
The Communication and Marketing Group is a D-INFK service unit dedicated to raising the Department's profile, increasing its visibility and strengthening interaction with internal and external stakeholders through strategic communication, managing digital content, organising events and stakeholder engagement initiatives.
Service Lecturer Team
The Service Lecturer Team primarily teaches large, introductory computer science courses to students from other departments. They deliver over 20 semester courses annually across 11 departments, reaching more than 5,000 students with lectures, exercises, tutored sessions, and exams. The team also offers continued education courses, in particular to managers with a non-CS background.
Software Developers
The Software Development Team creates tools designed to support and enhance high-quality teaching and assessment, even for large student groups. By integrating cutting-edge software development techniques and collaborating closely with lecturers and students, they produce scalable tools that provide personalised feedback, enriching the learning experience for students and streamlining the teaching and assessment processes for lecturers.
Research Integrity Advisor
The Research Integrity Advisor (RIA) promotes and supports good scientific practice. This includes providing information, conducting training sessions, and fostering education on research integrity. The RIA serves as a resource within our department for addressing questions and resolving issues and is responsible for counseling.
Human Resources
The HR Partner looks after, advises and supports the department, the supervisors and employees in matters of the human resources lifecycle, from recruitment, employment, remuneration and development to leaving. The HR Partner counsels both employees and supervisors in challenging situations related to HR topics. In addition, supervisors find competent contact persons in the HR Partners for all questions regarding leadership. The HR administrator looks after the employees of ETH Zurich during their employment period in close cooperation with HR Consulting in all matters of personnel administration. A key focus of the HR administrator are work permits and employment contracts for study assistants.
