Master in Cyber Security
Cyber security is a cornerstone for the continued expansion and acceptance of the information society while at the same time being a fundamental research discipline within computer science. Given the news coverage of cyber security issues in recent years, the importance of the topic is self-explanatory. Beyond enhancing existing systems, security technologies further enable new applications and have transformative effects on the society by redefining and challenging trust relationships and assumptions.
Research in cyber security strives to find solutions to pressing security problems in computer systems, networks and their applications, and lays the foundations to develop a secure information infrastructure for the future.

Comprehensive education
The Master’s programme in Cyber Security offers a broad set of courses from all areas of cyber security. To complement these subjects, students choose an area in computer science as a minor: Data Management Systems, Machine Intelligence, Visual and Interactive Computing, or Theoretical Computer Science. A semester project and the Master’s thesis provide students an opportunity to apply their knowledge and skills.
Joint-degree programme
Students can choose from a wide selection of courses from ETH Zurich and EPF Lausanne. After successful completion of the programme, they are awarded a joint degree from both universities.
High demand in the labour market
Graduates of this programme will face excellent job perspectives. There is a high demand for cyber security experts in all areas of business and administration, as well as in research.
