Credit Suisse Award for Best Teaching for Ghislain Fourny

After winning the Golden Owl in 2020, Dr. Ghislain Fourny receives the Credit Suisse Award for Best Teaching at this year's ETH day on 19 November. Congratulations!

Dr. Ghislain Fourny, a senior scientist at the Department of Computer Science, has been awarded the prestigious Credit Suisse Award 2022 for Best Teaching. In 2020, he was awarded the Golden Owl by Zurich’s students association, a prize that honours exceptional teaching. As a recipient of the Golden Owl, Fourny was automatically nominated for the Credit Suisse Award for Best Teaching.

Ghislain Fourny holds a Master’s degree in computer science and a doctorate from ETH Zurich. His research focuses on federating the various NoSQL and SQL databases and on making databases accessible to business users, with a focus on data models and declarative querying languages.

The aim of the Credit Suisse Award for Best Teaching is to promote quality teaching at tertiary level, and to strengthen Switzerland as a science and research location. The award was launched by the Credit Suisse Foundation in 2006 and includes prize money of CHF 10,000.00.
