Golden Owl for Kenny Paterson

Professor Kenny Paterson, who is part of the Institute for Information Security at ETH Zurich, has been awarded the Golden Owl 2022. Given out by ETH Zurich's students' association VSETH, the distinction aims to honour and encourage exceptional teaching. Each department receives one Golden Owl per year.
Kenny Paterson joined the Department of Computer Science at ETH Zurich in 2019. Since 1 January 2021, he has held the role of Associate Department Head. In addition, he is director of the CAS/DAS in Cyber Security and the Master's programme in Cyber Security. Kenny Paterson’s research over the last two decades has mostly been in the area of Cryptography, with a strong emphasis being on the analysis of deployed cryptographic systems and the development of provably secure solutions to real-world cryptographic problems.
He has been awarded several prizes and awards for his research: a Google Distinguished Paper Award, a Networking Research Prize, an award for Outstanding Research in Privacy Enhancing Technologies, a Best Paper Award at ACM CCS 2016 and an IEEE Symposium on Security and Privacy Distinguished Paper Award, to name a few.
