Stelian Coros, currently Tenure Track Assistant Professor, has been promoted to Associate Professor of Computational Robotics in the Department of Computer Science.

Björn the Polar Bear has been the unofficial mascot of the Association of Computer Science Students (VIS) since the turn of the millennium. Happy Birthday!

During her visit to ETH Zurich, Defence Minister Viola Amherd sketched a picture of an unstable, unpredictable world to which Swiss security policy must adapt. D-INFK contributes to Swiss cyber security through a number of initiatives and projects, including the secure internet architecture SCION and the Cyber Security Master's programme.

Prof. Angelika Steger has been elected as a new member of the ETH Zurich Prize Committee as of 1 November 2021. The Prize Committee advises the Executive Board on science prizes.

Almost 70 D-INFK researchers and students attended a talk and Q&A session on October 28 to learn about the complex process of applying for – and getting – faculty positions.

Collaboration between talented members of multidisciplinary teams provides the best foundation for innovative, useful and trustworthy applications of artificial intelligence. This has been demonstrated at a joint event by ETH Entrepreneur Club and the ETH AI Center.

On October 12, a small get-together was held in the CAB building in honour of D-INFK founders Niklaus Wirth and Carl August Zehnder. Alumni, former employees and professors from the founding period of the department 40 years ago attended the event.

An international research team whose members include Professor Shweta Shinde from our department, amongst others, has revealed a vulnerability in the security architecture of Intel processors. Until July, Microsoft and Google products were also affected.

Four students of the Department of Computer Science were awarded with an Excellence Scholarship & Opportunity Programme (ESOP) scholarship. The scholarship allows them to develop to their full potential and to focus entirely on their studies and research. Congratulations!
