This year's conference motto "Grundlagen(fach) Informatik" was reflected in a large number of workshops for teachers at all levels. ETH Rector Günter Dissertori addressed the topic in his speech. He emphasised that future first-year students will be better equipped with prior knowledge thanks to the introduction of computer science as a core subject at Swiss baccalaureate schools. This is an important milestone, as computational competencies such as algorithmic thinking, programming, data analysis and data-based modelling are essential in all disciplines today.
Rector Dissertori thanked the teachers in attendance for their dedicated work, which contributes to educating responsible citizens and making Switzerland fit for the future.
