This February, Professor Peter Widmayer received professor emeritus status. The Department of Computer Science would like to thank him for 27 years of dedication to teaching at ETH Zürich and for his valuable contributions to computer science research.

About Professor Peter Widmayer
Peter Widmayer was born in Ehningen, Germany in 1953. He studied at the Technical University in Karlsruhe, where he received his doctorate with a dissertation on algorithms and complexity in computer graphics and VLSI design. Afterwards, he spent a year at the IBM T. J. Watson Research Center in Yorktown Heights NY. He completed his habilitation at the University of Karlsruhe with his work on Approximation algorithms for Steiner's problem in graphs. He also taught at the University of Freiburg in Breisgau as professor of Computer Science.
Since 1992, Professor Peter Widmayer has been a full Professor of Computer Science at ETH Zürich as well as the Chair of Algorithms, Data Structures, and Applications. His research interests lie in the area of data structures and algorithms.
