Christian Holz und Niao He promoted to Associate Professors

Niao He and Christian Holz, both currently Tenure Track Assistant Professors at ETH Zurich, have been promoted to Associate Professors of Computer Science. Niao He works in the general field of mathematical optimisation, particularly the basics and methods of intelligent decision-making. Christian Holz conducts research on designing intelligent interfaces and technologies that will complement human beings in the future and enable them to interact with content.
Vera Traub appointed as Associate Professor of Theoretical Computer Science

Vera Traub, currently Professor at the University of Bonn, is a prize-winning scientist in the field of approximation algorithms and combinatorial optimisation. Her research sheds light on fundamental questions to do with the efficient computation of solutions for difficult optimisation problems.

Excellence Scholar Georgette Weingärtner turned her love for puzzles into a passion for cryptography and cybersecurity. Pursuing her Master’s degree at the Department of Computer Science, Georgette is now working on advanced cryptographic research and is also committed to inspiring more women to study computer science.

ETH Zurich has once again been recognised as one of the world’s top universities in the latest Times Higher Education (THE) Rankings. The university has maintained 11th place for the third consecutive year. The rankings also identify areas where the university has potential for further development.
ETH Zurich and EPFL enhance collaboration to boost AI in Switzerland

ETH Zurich and EPF Lausanne are intensifying their collaboration in artificial intelligence. They have founded the Swiss National AI Institute (SNAI) to address challenges in AI by leveraging their broad scientific expertise. The new institute draws on the expertise from various AI research disciplines as well as on the ETH AI Center and the EPFL AI Center.
Michal Friedman appointed assistant professor

Michal Friedman has been appointed Tenure Track Assistant Professor at the Department of Computer Science. Her research at the interface between programming languages, systems and modern hardware has contributed to analysing the performance of persistent memory for data processing and improving system performance. Her research in relevant and cutting-edge areas of computer science strengthens the Department's capabilities. Congratulations!
