Kristina Hostáková, postdoc in the Foundations of Cryptography Group at the Department of Computer Science was given the CAST/GI Promotion Award IT-Sicherheit. The award honours doctoral theses that promote advancements in IT security and make IT applications more secure.

At the recent symposium Sicherheit 2022 at the Karlsruhe Institute for Technology, our postdoc Kristina Hostáková received the eleventh Promotion Award IT-Sicherheit. The prize was given out by Competence Center for Applied Security Technology (CAST) and the Gesellschaft für Informatik (GI). With her work external pageFoundations of Generalized State Channel Networks, Kristina significantly contributed to improved scalability of cryptocurrencies based on a so-called payment channel which enables two parties to effect a payment outside of the blockchain. Since December 2020, Kristina has been part of the Foundations of Cryptography Group, headed by Prof. Dennis Hofheinz.

Kristina obtained her Master in Mathematics from the Charles University in Prague. She then went on to her doctoral studies focussing cryptography at the Ruhr University Bochum and later at the Technical University of Darmstadt, both located in Germany. Her research areas include public key cryptography, provable security of blockchain protocols, and non-malleable codes.
