Otmar Hilliges, head of the Advanced Interactive Technologies lab at D-INFK, has been awarded lasting impact awards at two different conferences. The two papers, which Hilliges and his collaboratos published at the respective conferences ten years ago, were based on the same successful research project.

The IEEE International Symposium on Mixed and Augmented Reality (ISMAR) chose the paper entitled "KinectFusion: Real-time dense surface mapping and tracking" to receive the 2021 Impact Paper Award. The second paper, "KinectFusion: real-time 3D reconstruction and interaction using a moving depth camera", received the Lasting Impact Award at the ACM Symposium on User Interface Software and Technology (UIST). Congratulations to all involved!
