Olga Sorkine-Hornung is a professor at the Institute of Visual Computing at the Department of Computer Science and has been awarded with the Golden Owl 2021. Given out by ETH Zurich's students' association VSETH, the distinction aims to honour and encourage exceptional teaching. Each department receives one Golden Owl per year.

At the Department of Computer Science, Sorkine-Hornung leads the Interactive Geometry Lab at the Institute of Visual Computing. Her work focuses on the theoretical foundations and practical algorithms for digital content creation tasks, such as shape representation and editing, artistic modeling techniques, digital fabrication, computer animation and digital image manipulation. Further, she also investigates fundamental challenges in digital geometry processing, including reconstruction, filtering, parameterization, meshing and compression of geometric data. She has received multiple awards, including the ACM SIGGRAPH Significant New Researcher Award in 2011, and is an ACM fellow.
