Professor Onur Mutlu changes departments

Professor Onur Mutlu has left the Department of Computer Science to join the Department of Electiral Engineering. He remains affiliated with D-​INFK and will continue to teach and mentor students.

Professor Onur Mutlu has moved to D-ITET from D-INFK effective September 1, 2020. He will continue to lead the SAFARI Research Group there and explore research and collaborations across the computing stack from low-level devices to high-level algorithms.

Mutlu remains affiliated with D-INFK and will continue to advise doctoral, Master's and Bachelor's students at the department. He will also continue to teach the second-semester Digital Design and Computer Architecture class. He is excited to carry on working with D-INFK and mentoring D-INFK students.

About Onur Mutlu

Professor Onur Mutlu leads the SAFARI Research Group, which was a part of the Department of Computer Science since September 2015. His research lies in the areas of computer architecture, computer hardware security and energy-efficient computing, with a strong focus on memory systems.

A variety of techniques he and his collaborators invented over the years have influenced industry and have been employed in commercial microprocessors and memory/storage systems.

His computer architecture and digital design course lectures and materials are available on YouTube, and his research group makes a wide variety of software and hardware artifacts freely available online.
