EPFL, ETH Zurich and the Swiss National Supercomputing Centre (CSCS) released Apertus today, Switzerland’s first large-scale, open, multilingual language model — a milestone in generative AI for transparency and diversity.

The Digital bank Swissquote is supporting research in the field of information security at ETH Zurich with a donation of CHF 2.5 million. The contribution will go to the Zurich Information Security & Privacy Center (ZISC), which focuses on cybersecurity, fraud prevention and data protection, as Swissquote announced on Friday.

The ETH Summer School Research fellowship provides students from all around the world the chance to gain their first research experience, connect with various like-minded people and explore Switzerland. Four participants share their personal experiences and challenges.

The Department of Computer Science teamed up with Hebbian, a STEM workshop provider, to host an AI Summer Week for high school students. Participants created their own online businesses using Shopify and other tools. The week culminated in a pitch in front of their families, friends and an expert panel.

On Campus Heilbronn, Master’s student Jeta Sopa joined Professors Joachim Buhmann and Torsten Hoefler at the ETH AI Summer School, discovering fresh perspectives on creativity, research and the future of AI.
