Prof. Markus Gross inducted into the IEEE Visualization Academy

Prof. Markus Gross is among the thirty-two computer visualisation leaders who have been inducted into the IEEE Visualization Academy. The Academy recognises individuals who have made substantial contributions to the field of visualisation.
Markus Gross, Professor of Computer Science at ETH Zurich, has been inducted into the IEEE Visualization Academy, considered one of the highest honours in the field of visualisation. The official ceremony took place October 22 at the IEEE Visualization Conference 2019 in Vancouver, Canada. Established in 2018 by the IEEE Visualization and Graphics Technical Committee, (VGTC), the Academy chose as its first members winners of the Visualization Career Award and Visualization Technical Achievement Award from 2004 to 2019. Markus Gross received the IEEE Visualization Career Award in 2015.
Prof. Gross heads the Computer Graphics Laboratory at the Department of Computer Science and is the Vice President Research and the Director of Disney Research|Studios. His research interests include physically based modeling, computer animation, immersive displays, and video technology. In February 2019, he and his research fellows from ETH Zurich and Disney Research received a Sci-Tech Oscar in Hollywood for their capture system, Medusa. Prof. Gross was also selected as a member of the ACM SIGGRAPH Academy in August 2019.
