A warm welcome to our SSRF 2019 students!

20 international students explore their favourite research topic while working within a research group at the Department of Computer Science.

Since the beginning of July, the Department of Computer Science is even more international than usual. 20 students from over 17 countries just started their SSRF (Student Summer Research Fellowship). During two summer months, the Bachelor’s and Master’s students get to deepen their knowledge in a research topic of their choice – such as machine learning, programming languages or visual computing. To take that deep dive into their favourite topic, the fellows are working within the respective research teams at our department.

Besides gaining valuable academic insights, the summer students have ample opportunity to explore other aspects of ETH. At the Scientific Speed Dating, for example, the SSRF students get to quiz doctoral students and postdoctoral researchers about their work and their projects. Further, the young researchers will get a guided tour through Zurich’s hidden alleyways and take a trip to the European Organisation for Nuclear Research CERN.

We wish our fellows an exciting summer stay, and plenty of memories and knowledge to bring back home!
