Young Swiss computer scientists win silver and bronze

Almost 200 young female computer scientists from 56 countries took part in the European Girls' Olympiad in Informatics (EGOI), which took place in the Netherlands from July 21 to 27. All four Swiss participants were delighted to receive a medal at the end.

Two IT Olympiads took place at the end of June: the Central European and the Western European. Switzerland entered a team in both competitions and won three gold medals.

Under the leadership of Professor Dennis Komm, the 13th Swiss Day for Computer Science Education (STIU) took place at ETH Zurich on 12 June 2024. The event, organised annually by the Centre for Computer Science Education (ABZ), provides a platform for computer science, mathematics, and physics teachers as well as primary school teachers to exchange ideas with researchers. It aims to inspire and introduce exciting teaching concepts for computer science.

Swiss student wins gold medal at International Olympiad in Informatics

Highschool student Joël Huber is the second Swiss student ever to win gold at the International Olympiad in Informatics. The Center for Computer Science Education (ABZ) of ETH Zurich helped train the Swiss delegation. (German)
