QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) unveiled its 2024 World University Rankings by Subject. ETH Zurich landed with 3 subjects in the top spot. A further 14 placed within the top ten in the world, among them Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (rank 7) and Computer Science and Information Systems (rank 9).

David Dao recently defended his doctoral thesis, conducted in the ETH Systems Group under the supervision of Professors Ce Zhang and Gustavo Alonso. His childhood fascination for Albert Einstein led him all the way from Munich to ETH Zurich. During his doctorate, he discovered a lot about himself, what he is passionate about and the value of thinking outside the box.

Valentina Boeva has been a Tenure Track Assistant Professor of Biomedical Informatics at D-INFK since June 2019. She speaks not only Russian, French and English, but also the languages of computer science and biology. A rare talent that she is passing on to an increasing number of students.

Times Higher Education (THE) has released its latest Subject Rankings: ETH Zurich has 6 subjects in the top twenty with 3 in the top 10 in the world. Computer Science ranks 4th in the rankings and maintains its position from last year.
Cornelia Haldemann: “We were a mixed bunch”

As one of the first computer science students at ETH Zurich, Cornelia Haldemann began her studies in 1981 and graduated in 1987. Today, she heads the product data management of an internationally active Swiss company and, after many years of work, meets change with serenity.

Sarah Hauser completed her Master's degree in computer science at ETH Zurich in 2008. As a professor and Vice Dean at the computer science department at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, she now shapes the next generation of computer science students.

A group of alumni from the second semester of 1964 recently came together in the CAB building to celebrate 50 years of programming at ETH Zurich. ETH bought its first computer, the CDC 1604-A, on May 12, 1964. (German)
