From 28 March to 1 April, the Informatiktage (Computer Science Days) will take place. The Department of Computer Science and ETH Zurich’s IT Services are once again involved as partners and offer a variety of events for school classes, teachers and interested students.
Visual computing helps cleft lip surgery
Event
Researchers from the Department of Computer Science are using visual computing to simplify and improve surgeries for cleft lip and palate. They presented their project to visitors at Treffpunkt Science City on 21 November 2021.

Professor Markus Gross, head of the Computer Graphics Laboratory at ETH Zurich and Vice President of Research for The Walt Disney Studios, has been appointed a member of acatech.
Prof. Angelika Steger joins ETH Prize Committee

Prof. Angelika Steger has been elected as a new member of the ETH Zurich Prize Committee as of 1 November 2021. The Prize Committee advises the Executive Board on science prizes.

To slow down the spread of the coronavirus, most ETH staff had to move their teaching duties and research to their home offices. However, collaboration and communication must be re-invented and everyone needs to adapt to the new routine. Alexander Viand, president of the association of scientific staff at D-INFK, is now working from home, too.
